Well hi there friend! I seem to get questions daily about how I started/got into blogging, so I thought I would give you guys a little backstory on my life.
My journey with fashion has been a long one! I knew I wanted to pursue a career in fashion since I was young. I remember being in high school and keeping a notebook with each day’s outfit written down, so that I would mix and match items without repeating the same look too often. Ha!
Fashion clearly carried over into my adult life as well! After graduating from USC with a Bachelor of Arts, I began what I thought would be a short term job at Nordstrom. Fast forward almost 17 years, and I had a wonderful and fulfilling career under my belt, working my way “down” the inverted pyramid first as a salesperson, then as a department manager in several different departments. I moved with the company, opened a new store in Charlotte, NC in 2003 and then moved to Tampa in 2008. We didn’t have a designer department at the time here in Tampa, but were gearing up to open one. I joined the team and helped open and establish women’s designer department at our local store here and had the best time doing it! I met a ton of clients during this time, many of whom I still talk to and have become friends for life. Fashion and styling is what tied us all together but the friendships were equally as fun!
With some encouragement from one of my best friends, Jaclyn Hill, while I was simultaneously working at Nordstrom as a Personal Stylist, I decided to start my blog in 2015. I worked retail full time as I was building my blog/Instagram and it finally took off in the fall of 2019. I rarely had an actual day off for 5 years straight, so after much thought, I made the decision to quit Nordstrom and run my blog and Instagram full time in January of 2020. I just knew I could make it work if I gave it my all and somehow managed to convince my very practical husband of this. Lol! He gave me his full support and so here I sit. Thankfully everything has worked out and I’m able to continue down this path, sharing my love of all things fashion with you guys! ‘ll always try to share a mix of things I love like recipes, home, family, my faith and our baby girl!
If you are thinking about starting a blog/Instagram or anything that might be new to you, I truly believe anything is possible! You can do anything you set your mind to with hard work, dedication and perserverance! The sky is the limit. XOXO, Christian
